Inquire to be a Supercycle instructor

Beginning in early October, Supercycle is piloting an Autumn Business Development Cohort for freelance practitioners (coaches, therapists, consultants, creatives) to enhance their offerings by developing their own content hosted on the Supercycle platform.

Over three months, the cohort will build their own content that compliments their practice alongside several other practitioners with guidance and support from the Supercycle co-founders.

Expressing your interest only takes a couple of minutes. Feel free to do so even if you don't plan to join the upcoming cohort.

When is this happening? Mid-October through mid-December

How much does it cost? $285/mo.
(Slightly more than a monthly Groups membership and includes course library access for you and all of your existing clients for 6 months)

Why this kind of program?

Tee and Emily have continued their personal coaching practices alongside the launch of the Supercycle course library and workshops.

For Tee in particular, having clients work through course modules while also receiving coaching at regular intervals appears to have enhanced his practice.

He’s noticed:

  • More learning between sessions – clients learn from watching recorded modules designed by Supercycle, and have benefitted from bringing new concepts and modules into the one-to-one coaching sessions.

  • Additional loops of reflection – clients have benefited from additional reflective time between sessions, where the expectation to “do homework” as part of a recorded course is sometimes stronger than simply establishing it in a session.

  • Higher value add – because of the way clients synthesize module content with what comes up in the one-to-one sessions, there’s a stronger argument for delivering more value, and potentially charging more by extension.

  • Improved conversion rate – Tee has noticed a considerable spike in his conversion rate from something like 50 - 60% to 80 - 90%. He suspects a large share of the explanation for this is because he offers the integration of free “In-community” (course library) membership as a benefit of working with him.

  • More doors opening – he’s come across more opportunities overall because of the credibility boost from Supercycle as a 501(c)(3) entity hosting his content.

And we would like to open this possibility to more people!

What are good reasons to join?

You could develop your own materials, upload them somewhere, and then weave them into your work with clients. If that’s the case, why join this program?

You might want to build your offerings with us because:

  • you’re interested in receiving guidance and peer support in the creation of materials to supplement and enhance your practice

  • the timelines, supportive cast and setting seem like great conditions to really focus on developing your content (some would call this a “forcing function” that plays a valuable role in advancing your practice)

  • develop your content with other practitioners at a similar point in their journey

  • we’ll offer weekly guidance and co-working as you develop your content

  • you keep all of your intellectual property (IP)

  • we take 0% of your revenue with clients

  • your clients get 6 months of the full Supercycle course library free

  • we have a pool of subscribers that could get organically introduced to your practice

  • some instructors could even develop workshop content to participate in the Autumn wave of workshops.

  • you might want to diversify across several platforms for delivering your content

  • you see the long-term potential in building your offerings through Supercycle

  • you might want to contribute to this community we’re building

Who would be a good fit?

This program is for those with an existing practice. We’re open to working with a variety of people and disciplines that are compatible with the Supercycle ethos, so no need to hold back on expressing interest, though you can find more detail on who would be a good fit below.

The “Supercycle Development Collective” is our registered 501(c)(3) name because we envisioned expanding the community to include workshops and course library offerings from a variety of different practitioners.

How we’re thinking about this

We’d love for our community to have “pockets” of personal and professional developmental interests, including potential instructors who would like to bring more of their practice to a wider audience.

We think that having a collection of people who want to bring these developmental practices to others will be enriching for themselves, other practitioners learning alongside them, and the Supercycle community at large. â€‹

Informed by our experience running a coaching training program, we currently have Coaching Training courses and workshop offerings, but would also like for practitioner development to not only come from the Supercycle team.

There’s so much to learn when it comes to these forms of development and we see real potential here for a vibrant network of people interested in delivering personal and professional development to blossom. â€‹

More on who would be a good fit

Something we’d suggest applicants consider most is whether the vibe of Supercycle, especially if that which is on the homepage resonates. We’re happy to clarify things as well as we explore working together.

Don’t worry if you feel that your profile doesn’t seem to be a perfect fit. We’d like to have a diverse group of instructors, so we’d be excited to be persuaded, take chances and examine our own assumptions about people during this process.

On a more concrete note, the first group of practitioners will mostly consist of people who’ve already gotten early traction in guiding others in some form (e.g. sustaining a coaching or therapy practice, consistent mentoring, leadership of a project, experience in management), especially in high-responsibility contexts.

It’s less likely that we’d invite those without any kind of traction to be instructors.

We’re more likely to see potential in working with you as a guest instructor if:

  • Your heart is in this. We’re looking for this and care about it a lot.

  • Unmistakably high rapport exists between us. Beyond just likability, there are important seeds of potentiality captured by rapport

  • Building out your own practice to a wider audience seems to fit within your life plans (including basic logistical considerations)

  • You’re not explicitly relying on Supercycle to make a living (at least initially). We’re confident in being a presence that helps you prepare to make a living for yourself, rather than exclusively through earning from us.

  • Basic coordinating and syncing with people come relatively easy for you. High degrees of coordination and syncing abilities within diverse and complex environments would be even better

  • You can demonstrate a track record of thoughts and actions that align with things mentioned on the homepage

  • We can tell that you’re viewing working with Supercycle as important to a mainline plan that you’re already actively driving forward (or strongly intend to pursue)

  • Your relationship to intellectual content and property is relatively open, respectful and trustworthy (i.e. we want to hand you tools and techniques to share with others. But it’s about how the content is shared)

  • We can get a sense of a certain grittiness across different areas of your life

  • You can demonstrate instances, periods, and/or patterns of sustained contribution to the commons or local culture (i.e. investing in the environment for friends, family, community, co-workers, etc.)

  • We can see evidence of your willingness and potential ability to handle the “business side” of running in your own practice, including markers of reliability, consistency, intentionality, etc.

  • We get the sense that you’re treating this collaborative process as a two-way street (i.e. we get some indications (e.g. questions) that you’re carefully considering whether to participate)

* for example, one prospective coach is working with me on building their practice in exchange for supporting Supercycle with strategy, communications and operations
